NEW Group Classes - 8 Week Course - Clifton Hill
Two new classes are being introduced in June 2013. These courses will run for 8 weeks with the final Friday night finishing with a practica (social dancing) so that everyone from both classes can "show off their moves on the dance floor".
Friday 7th and Saturday 8th are TASTER classes. Come to and enjoy either of these classes, join and pay then and there, and you only pay $115 - a saving of 20%. Decide it's not for you and only pay $17. Enrolment in the course is open until week 4 (payment on a proportional basis). After that you have to wait for the next course to begin.

Group Classes
Classes cover all styles, usually with one style as a focus for any given class. Sometimes a common theme will be explored over a number of weeks to help build a deeper understanding.
Beginners We focus at the beginner level with teaching strong fundamentals: walking with a partner, simple leading and following, and comfort moving through a social dance space. You will meet other beginners and enjoy learning together. No dance experience or partner is necessary. If you can walk, you are ready for this class.
Intermediate Increase your tango vocabulary and understanding through learning new steps and combinations that can be integrated into sequences. We aim to develop sound technique that will help you to become a competent dancer.
Advanced This level of class is aimed at experienced tango dancers who wish to polish their technique, learn advanced concepts and sequences, and possibly explore performance tango. Tango knows no bounds.
Some classes cater for different levels of experience (i.e. Beginners & Intermediate). We ensure the material is comfortable for everyone by first establishing a basic concept and then developing it incrementally. This allows you to choose as much of the material as you like. This teaching approach is what makes Tango Tambien unique. These classes provide an excellent opportunity for the less experienced to grow and the more experienced to refine their understanding. No matter who you are, the more people you dance with the better the dancer you will be!
Private Classes
Private dance lessons are available for those wanting to learn Argentine tango, whether to enhance your enjoyment of social dancing, a special event such as a wedding dance (the wedding photos on the "gallery" page published with the kind permission of Danielle & Nic) or performances. Private lessons can provide a perfect introduction to tango and partnered dance, compliment group classes and help accelerate your learning.
Private lessons are made by appointment. Contact Leigh for your first private lesson.

Workshops
Argentine tango workshops are classes held for those who want to work at a deeper level of understanding to improve their dancing. They are different from group classes as they are of longer duration (about 2 hours), working with a theme/concept from which sequences and steps can be developed.
Tango Bajo holds monthly workshops. International guest teachers are available when on tour. Check the events page for latest happenings.
Practica
A practica is a time devoted to working on your own Argentine tango development. This can be either with others attending the practica or by yourself. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and if you need assistance Leigh is available to help you.
What to Wear
Whatever you like! But for classes you are recommended to wear comfortable clothing. Any kind of leather soled shoes can be worn. Ladies should wear shoes with either a t-bar or strap. Men should wear shoes that have a low heel (to help bring the weight forward). General dance shoes are preferable and will afford greater freedom of movement. Dance shoes designed specifically for tango can be purchased locally in Melbourne or abroad from online stores. Visit shoes for a browse.
