Immersion Workshops

Sunday 5, 12 & 19 May 2013

During March Tango Tambien trialled the concept of Immersion Workshops - a course of 3 consecutive workshops exploring a theme.  The concept was successful and will continue henceforth.  May 2013's concept is SACADAS.

Each workshop will commence with solo and/or coupled technique exercises which then progress into a figure/sequence, with each week presenting a different example of the concept being explored.  Each workshop will be constructed in such a way as to provide those just beginning or those with more experience information that will, at the end of 3 weeks, provide or increase solid foundations.

Entry is for all the workshops as this is not a drop in course.

Date:    Sunday 5, 12 & 19 May
Time:   3:30 - 5:00pm
Venue: Holy Advent Anglican Church of Australia

"Siempre Asi" Mini-Milonga

Last Sunday of every month

We are delighted to announce that "Siempre Asi" will be presenting Steven Marin, singer/songwriter/guitarist on Sunday 28th April 2013.

Steven Marin, of Latino origin but bought up in America, is a singer/songwriter/guitarist. Steven started his studies with classical guitar but diversified to other forms of music, ranging from blues to cuban son to tango.

Steven has performed throughout the city of Medellin, Colombia and he is now getting started in Melbourne.

"Siempre Asi" is a mini-milonga held on a Sunday afternoon - Tango & Cake - what a perfect combination.  The main aim is to provide a relaxed dancing atmosphere for all and to encourage those making the transition from classes to the dance floor.

At 3:00pm we will start with approximately a 45 min technique/challenge session which will be suitable for everyone and all levels. This session will always have an emphasis on floor craft and aims to encourage mingling of students from different classes.  Then the afternoon will morph into the normal format for a milonga with music that has a mix of tandas of tango, milonga and vals.

"Siempre Asi" will be held at one of the most beautiful tango venues available, the Holy Advent Church, Armadale.

Date:    The last Sunday of every month
Time:   3:00 - 6:00pm
Venue: Holy Advent Anglican Church of Australia

"La Mision" Milonga

Every Saturday night

On the 2nd of August 2008 Tango Bajo in collaboration with Tango Tambien announced the opening of a new Argentine tango milonga: 'La Mision'

The venue is a beautiful old church with gorgeous lead lighting and stunning vaulted ceilings.

La Mision has been so successful that Bill Jarman now runs a milonga on every Saturday. The first and third Saturdays are devoted to traditional music and any other Saturdays are Musica Divertida (mostly traditional with some electrotango).

You are welcome to bring along your own refreshments and nibbles.
